Nils Byg Jørgensen

European Patent Attorney

PhD (Physics)

My background and fields of specialization

Patent consultancy
Through my work, I strengthen and support businesses through patent protection, and I help clients to steer clear of obstacles imposed by competitors’ patents. In this context, I perform novelty searches and patentability assessments, draft and prosecute patent applications, and I assist in freedom to operate, infringement and opposition cases. My clients range from large market-leading companies to small startups and universities. In parallel to my work, I study towards qualifying as a European Patent Attorney.

Focus areas and educational background
I recently passed the pre-examination of the European Patent Office and work towards passing the remaining parts of the European Qualifying Examination.
Further, I am currently studying to become a Certified Danish Patent Agent.
I hold a B.Sc. degree, a M.Sc. degree, and a Ph.D. degree in physics from Aarhus University, where I have also conducted research as a postdoctoral researcher.

Technical fields of specialization
My background in physics research allows me to work in a broad range of technical fields, such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, audio technology, robot technology, optics, and computer algorithms.

Experience
I worked within physics research until late 2019, when I moved to the IP profession.

You’ll find my detailed CV on Linkedin.

At eye level

When I am not at work, I value spending time with my family, which counts three children. Moreover, I enjoy listening to music, and I like to immerse myself in strategic board games with friends.
